Some days we stand
Gazing south, looking out over
AC units and horse dung
I soak up your
Youthful Enthusiasm
Righteousness Indignation
Stealthily Cloaked Naivete'
Endorphic Stench
The lense of my past is focused
Refocused
I remember scanning the horizon
for windmills
for damsels in distress
for quests worthy of my zeal
I ponder battles won
And battles lost
And wonder
What your collateral damage will be
When your twins are
Tilting, de-stressing, and questing
on their own
Stoke the fire
But make that heat
Generate more than a little light
It's a darkening world.
